Reference data is reference, not gospel

The maintenance schedules, specifications and part numbers hullfolio suggests are gathered from published sources and from what other owners of the same equipment record. We show our sources wherever a source exists, and nothing enters your record without your confirmation — but engines change between model years, part numbers supersede, and documents contain errors.

Always verify suggested data against your equipment's nameplate and the manufacturer's documentation for your serial number before relying on it. Suggested data is provided as a starting point, without warranty of accuracy or fitness. It is not a substitute for the manufacturer's manuals, a marine surveyor, or a qualified technician — especially for anything touching safety: fire suppression, ground tackle, through-hulls, liferafts.

Maintenance decisions, and their consequences, are yours: hullfolio is a record-keeping tool, not a survey, an inspection, or engineering advice.

Your record is yours — and part of it is shared

Your boats, documents, photos, service history and notes are yours. We don't sell them, and other owners never see them.

One part of the record is deliberately not private, and you should know it before you type: maintenance facts about a make and model. When you record a part or accept a schedule item, the equipment it belongs to, the part number, the interval and the specification are added to a shared library keyed to that make and model — so the next owner of the same engine finds what you found. That library is the product. It is why a lookup gets better over time rather than starting from nothing.

What is never shared: your identity, your boat, your documents, your service dates and hours, and your notes. The privacy page sets out exactly which fields cross that line and which don't.

The service

The service is provided as-is, without warranty, and may change as it grows. Don't abuse it, don't upload what you have no right to upload, and keep your account credentials to yourself. We may update these terms; continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
